Travel in Seven: Culinary Guide got Featured on Blackberry Appworld

This is nice news, Apparently the Culinary Guide Apps made by travelinseven.com founder: Asep Bagja Priandana (@bepitulaz) has been featured on the Blackberry App World per Tuesday, March 20, 2012. This post is about the technical detail of the apps, for the review, I leave it to the experts.

As we have experienced just recently, Research in Motion has doing some nice events in Indonesia, one of its biggest market of Blackberry Handsets. As reported by Dailysocial.net, this app has been presented in Blackberry 1st Casual Meetup in Bandung, which is the first in Indonesia, and the first casual meetup ever held by Research in Motion. Asep unveiled the applications at the event.

According to Asep, Culinary Guide is a travel product from Travel in Seven that allows people to discover low-budget culinary when traveling. I suspect there will be more travel products from Travel in Seven in the future. The apps itself was coded using Webworks on the Playbook OS 2.0.

Asep chose Webworks because of its short learning curve. Being a web development wizard for years, he said that it needs almost nothing new for him to develop the apps due to its utilisation of  familiar web technology. There is no need of 3rd party layer such as Phonegap and Titanium. It only needs HTML, CSS, and Javascript with some additional libraries like Jquery and Jquery UI.

Registering as Appworld Vendor for Asep is easy and free. Submission took 2 weeks from the date the application submitted until published to the storefront.

Summary

  • Platform : Playbook OS 2.0 (QNX)
  • Toolkit : Webworks
  • Language: HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • Libraries: JQuery, JQuery UI
  • Development Platform: Mac OS X
  • Approval Process : 2 weeks
